About Project

Westminster Church Living will be a thriving multicultural community providing affordable senior housing and home ownership and multifunctional spaces for the Westminster Presbyterian Church.

About Project

The project is located in Southwest DC at the corner of 4th and I street, adjacent to the Duck Pond, a district park and a sculpture walk. The new development consists of two buildings, the church as a base to the 123 affordable senior apartment units above and with 99 condo units in the adjacent building. A lower level garage is shared by all three entities. The 14,750 SF of church spaces look out to the park and the sculpture walk and will house church functions, weekly music programs, community meetings, art and music rooms and a teaching kitchen. The apartment faces the district parcel while the condo units enjoy views of the Duck Pond. The residential buildings offer amenities such as fitness and club rooms, rooftop terrace, gardening terrace and pet relief areas.
A softly backlit vertical element creates an identity for the church and the project and establishes it as a landmark for the neighborhood. The church, apartment and condo each have their own identity but are tied together through a common architectural language.
