The headquarters design proposes a forward-looking corporate campus for Novavax, a global biotechnology company that is solving the world’s health challenges by manufacturing vaccines. The campus will support innovation, attract top scientific talent, and create opportunities for the merging of science, nature, and social interaction for workers and visitors in an engaging, open, and sustainable environment.
The campus design complements and defines the existing context to support Novavax’s growth and the communities development goals of the city of Gaithersburg by expanding existing Life Science Corridor assets and stimulate the surrounding neighborhood with employment, technology activities, and service opportunities.
The design creates a defined urban edge with two dynamic mid-rise office towers along Firstfield Road, South of Bank Street. Between the two towers is a ceremonial approach into the campus that offers visitors a view of the central campus commons open space and all building facilities, including their existing facility at 700 Quince Orchard which defines the Eastern boundary of the overall campus. The new buildings will be a modern and recognizable landmark visible from both Firstfield and Quince Orchard Roads to serve the emerging needs of Novavax and rejuvenate the local built community.
