The recently unveiled design of the Novavax Vaccines Innovation Campus and Global Headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD, aim at attracting the world’s top scientific minds to growing Maryland’s bio innovation corridor, was recently awarded the AIA Northern Virginia Merit Award in Conceptual | Unbuilt Architecture.
KGD Architecture is leading the design for the expansion for Novavax, a global biotechnology company developing innovative vaccines to prevent serious infectious diseases. Following the approval of the company’s expansion plans by Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman and the City Council, the campus design was unveiled at an event attended by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and other dignitaries on June 10, 2021.
The design features a forward-looking corporate campus to support innovation, attract top scientific talent in an engaging, open, and sustainable environment that merges science, nature and social interaction for employees and visitors.
AIA recognizes and celebrates the best buildings and spaces, and the people behind them, with some of the most prestigious awards in the built environment which highlight best practices and recognize exemplary projects.
KGD Architecture has provided innovative design solutions for multiple world-renowned science and technology companies over the years, including the multi-phased renovation of the AstraZeneca campus in Gaithersburg, MD, and Institute for Defense Analyses in Potomac Yard, VA on schedule to complete by December 2021.
