Washington, DC — KGD Architecture, in collaboration with The Scott Brogan Group, won “Best Interpretation of Theme” at IIDA Mid-Atlantic Chapter’s Washington Metro City Center Cosmo Couture DC fundraising event held September 20. With Washington National Cathedral as the perfect backdrop, the team brought this year’s theme of “lore” to life. A winged gargoyle worked the runway sheathed in metal mesh and wood veneer flitches on a solid wood armature and topped by a helmet of papier-mâché substrate finished with Caba Barkskinä. The collage garment captures the lore and lyricism of this historical architectural feature that perches on the stone faces of medieval churches.
