The IIDA Mid Atlantic Chapter (IIDAMAC) is an inclusive community of design professionals, industry partners, students and educators with the common goal of elevating the profession of interior design through education, engagement and advocacy. Last week was Cosmo Couture DC, an annual IIDAMAC event, that fosters a direct collaboration between local architecture and interior design firms with manufacturing partners to create garments reflecting that year's theme. Proceeds go to support IIDAMAC programing, including student initiatives, professional development, and community outreach.
Representing KGD and our gracious sponsorship partner, Bentley Mills, Terry Mayo Jr. modeled "The Moment of Impact," an outfit that captured this year's chosen theme of POP! Modeled after fireworks and thunder, the piece represents the explosive way light from within can burst out of darkness. Many of our KGD team worked on creating this "Moment," using LVT, backing, carpet, and yarn from Bentley Mills, a California-based textile manufacturing company. The lightning bolt even lights up for extra impact! We want to thank you to everyone who helped make this vision pop into reality, and for a wonderful evening. Special kudos further extend to the rest of our designers, including Dhriti Pangasa, Hanna Keplinger, Helia Amini, Jasmine Wong, Ipsha Patel, Nia Furr, Poorva Choudhary, Rachel Martinka, and Victoria Volpi. We also want to congratulate all of this year's winning teams and their dynamic fashion collaborations.
