KGD Architecture was recognized for two awards at AIA Northern Virginia’s 20th Anniversary Design Awards Celebration June 14, 2016. The Award of Merit was awarded for their design of the Visitor’s Center and the Jurors’ Citation was awarded for their design of 3100 Clarendon Boulevard.
The Visitor’s Center, AIA Award of Merit for Commercial Architecture
The building, serves as a gateway to a 40-acre site master planned for a secure campus, consisting of office and research buildings. The building offers panoramic views of a restored stream valley, and 20-acres of forest preserve. Green features beyond the nature preserve include a green roof and wall, and pervious parking surfaces that filter storm water.
3100 Clarendon Boulevard, AIA Jurors’ Citation for Commercial Interiors
An iconic office building in Arlington, Virginia was occupied by a single tenant for the last two decades. A complete interior renovation, as well as an update of the exterior and retail base, bring contemporary language to the building. For the first time, the building is offering Class-A leasable office space.
