1730 Pennsylvania Avenue

Originally completed in 1972, the 12-story, Tishman Speyer office building at 1730 Pennsylvania Avenue NW underwent extensive renovations that included the installation of a state-of-the-art VAV-system, complete remodeling of the lobby, and refinished elevator cabs, fitness facility and restroom upgrades. The building’s facade underwent an exterior renovation to resurface the building with a glass curtain wall.

The original concrete backed travertine panel system was failing and was a potential danger to passing pedestrians. The building remained occupied during the construction and the design needed to minimize disruption to those tenants. Perpetual easements were obtained that allowed the new facade to encroach onto adjacent properties including the DC right of way.
