A mechanical engineer with a passion for sustainability and thoughtful design, Shane Trexler brings a strong technical background to the KGD Architecture studio. His sustainability efforts include coordination of certification-seeking projects with goals to achieve LEED®, WELL®, Enterprise Green Communities, Energy Star™, and other marketable sustainability standards. In addition, he consults with individual project teams, when necessary, on the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) which is prevalent in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Shane’s background in both engineering and business/project management facilitates a collaborative role as liaison between project engineers, architects, and ownership groups. He strives to cultivate universal understanding for more effective decision making between all three of the aforementioned essential groups within the project design team leading up-to and through the construction planning and execution phases.
In addition, Shane enjoys the design and analysis of energy models. Utilizing select 3D and energy modeling software, his analyses yield early and in-depth views of project performance characteristics and the impact that design decisions have on building operations. The resulting information produces the necessary information for project teams to save thousands of dollars per year on utility costs and maintenance requirements.
