08 May KGD Architecture Contributes to the NAIOP DC|MD Capital Challenge Winning Team

KGD Architecture proudly collaborated with the winning team from George Mason University in the NAIOP Capital Challenge, an annual intercollegiate real estate case study competition organized by the NAIOP DC|MD Chapter. GMU students from the M.S. Program in Real Estate Development competed against teams from graduate-level real estate development programs at Georgetown University’s Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate Program; The Colvin Institute of Real Estate Development at The University of Maryland; The Kogod School of Business at American University; and Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.

Teams tackle a “real life” case study that focuses on a development/redevelopment project in the Washington, DC, suburban Maryland metropolitan area. Consultant sponsor firms from supporting disciplines help the teams to develop their solutions.

George Mason University students ‒ guided by KGD Architecture (architect), Penzance (developer), Coakley & Williams Construction (construction), Bohler Engineering (civil engineering), Savills Studley (broker) and PNC Real Estate (financier) ‒ captured the 2018 grand prize scholarship of $10,000.

The KGD team was led by Henry Mahns, Principal and Bruno Leiva.
